MY PHOTOGRAPHIC ADVENTURE STARTED IN MEXICO CITY, and since the beginning I specialized in black and white portraits of young men, youths born with a special aura that turns them into the center of attraction and admiration; young men of all nationalities and races, sharing a common denominator: each -without even trying- is powerfully sensual.
I don’t rely on the conventional stereotypes of masculine beauty; I confer the same importance to a tall young man as to one who is short, to one who is thin or to one who is more robust. The element of MASKULINO is what is important and must always be present.
When I shoot, my intention is to capture innate sensuality, raising it to its highest expression, in the most artistic and refined manner possible, endeavoring at all times to emulate the archetypes of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, as well as to uncover the exquisite sensuality ever present in the bodies represented in Renaissance Art.
The male nude has always been the standard by which aesthetic beauty is judged. At the present time, however, many photographers have taken the form to excesses that include pornography, which leave very little or nothing, to the observer’s imagination. Personally, I feel that the subtlety of a sensual pose, or the defiance of provocative look, are far more interesting and even more exciting than an organ explicitly displayed.
I make an effort to ensure that my photographs can be viewed by anyone, both men and women, giving no importance to sexual tendencies. In that way the observer -man or woman- is free to delight in and even fantasize with each photograph and with each young man to his or her heart’s content.
My models don’t need to be professionals in any way; they are more than welcome if they are! More often than not, however, they are neophytes in that field. That’s fine, as in both cases, the only prerequisite that I ask during the session, is that they are themselves, free of affectations or pretensions. That is the only way to capture their intrinsic essence.
